Liberation war hero Cde Solomon Maregere has been laid to rest at the Manicaland Provincial Heroes Acre.

Cde Maregere died on the 28th of November at Mutare Provincial Hospital after short illness.

In a speech read on her behalf, the Minister of State for Manicaland Cde Monica Mutsvangwa, described Cde Maregere as a dedicated cadre who served the country during and after the war of liberation.

Born on the 3rd of June in 1957 in Bikita, Cde Maregere, whose Chimurenga name was Cde Chirenje, left for the liberation struggle in 1975.

He received military training in Tanzania and was later deployed to Mozambique.

Cde Maregere trained as nurse at Bonda Mission and worked at various health centers and was now based at Sakubva Eye Unit.

He is survived by his wife and 3 children.
