The body of the late national heroine Cde Thokozile Mathuthu has arrived in Bulawayo for a church service before it is flown to Harare for burial at the national shrine on Sunday.

The body received a heroine welcome at the Joshua Mqabuko International Airport this morning before it was ferried to the Large City Hall for the church service. 

The body was welcomed at the airport by the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, who is also Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Dr Obert Mpofu, the Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development Cde Sithembiso Nyoni, the Minister of Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Senator Angeline Masuku, politburo member Cde Absolom Sikhosana, Zanu PF Matabeleland North province chairman Cde Richard Moyo, Senator Tambudzani Mohadi, some senior Zanu PF party officials and service chiefs.

The church service will be led by the SDA church where several speakers are lined up to take it to the podium.

Earlier this morning, the body left Hwange accompanied by the Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development Cde Sithembiso Nyoni, Senator Tambudzani Mohadi, husband to the late national heroine Jonathan Mathuthu and other family members.

Yesterday hundreds of mourners thronged Colliery Stadium for a church service to bid farewell to a woman who has been described as a unifier, an exceptional leader and hardworking.

Cde Mathuthu, who died on Monday at the age of 61, will be buried at the national shrine in Harare on Sunday.
