Boxing legend and three time Commonwealth champion Langton ‘School boy’ Tinago has died.
Tinago died at Gweru Hospital after a short illness.
He was 69.
A dark cloud has enveloped Gweru following the passing of boxing legend Tinago.
Born in 1949 in Shurugwi, Tinago is the only Zimbabwean to have won the Commonwealth title three times, imprinting an indelible mark in the country’s sporting history books.
Family representative Wellington Pombi and friends of the late boxing legend expressed grief at the sudden passing of Tinago saying the sporting fraternity especially boxing has been robbed of a man who was committed to the development of the sport at grassroots level.
At the time of his death Tinago was working with the boxing board, coaching young boxers across the country.
He leaves behind a wife and seven children.
Mourners are gathered at number 42 Kenyani road in Mambo, Gweru and burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
