zim new farmer.jpgFive people have been critically injured following a land ownership wrangle at Lion Kopje Farm near Banket.

Reports say the five were attacked by about 60 people while assisting Chief Zvimba to transplant his tobacco seedlings and sustained various injuries that include fractured arms and deep cuts in the head.

Eye witnesses say the attacks were carried out by a mob of 60 people allegedly hired by eleven settlers who are refusing to vacate the farm which has been allocated to Chief Zvimba.

The spokesperson of the Zvimba Chieftainship Council, Mr Ernest Chikambi said the disturbances are equivalent to defying the authority of the chief.

He said Chief Zvimba has an offer letter that gives him legal entitlement to Lion Kopje Farm.
