The Commission of inquiry to investigate the ownership, allocation and development of state land descended on Manicaland for public hearings whereupon a report will be compiled and submitted to President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the findings.
The commission of inquiry led by Justice Tendai Uchena seeks to investigate the ownership, allocation, occupation and development of state land since the year 2005.
Chipinge was the first port of call in Manicaland where a public hearing was conducted and it ended prematurely because of disagreements on people who should give evidence to the commission.
The issue of payments made by thousands of youths after being promised stands was high on the agenda following reports of swindling and embezzlement of funds.
The commission that also comprise Mr Andrew Mlalazi, Mr Steven Chakaipa, Dr Tarisai Mutangi, Dr Heather Chingono and Ms Petronella Musarurwa indicated that the public hearings will continue in Mutare as focus turns towards dealing with all contemptuous land issues in urban areas.
