Expectations are high that the crafting of the Land Developers Bill will bring sanity in the housing sector which has seen several home seekers losing money to unscrupulous land barons throughout the country.

The Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Dr Douglas Mombeshora confirmed that the government is in the process of crafting the law aimed at curbing the unscrupulous sale of state land to home seekers.

“The Land Developers Bill will provide a framework under which land developers will operate, and we hope this will restore sanity in the housing sector,” he said.

Dr Mombeshora added that land barons are taking advantage of the growing demand for housing to dupe desperate home seekers by parceling out state land in towns and cities.

Minister Mombeshora also warned people who illegally convert state land reserved for grazing into residential areas to stop the practice.
