The Zimbabwe Republic Police says lack of adequate resources is its biggest challenge in carrying out its operations.
Assistant Commissioner Moyo who was standing in for the Officer Commanding police in Mashonaland East Province told the parliamentary portfolio committee on defense, home affairs and security on their visit to the province’s headquarters in Marondera that lack of resources is affecting their operations.
His sentiments were echoed by Assistant Commisioner Simon Mwatsikesimbe who revealed that unavailability of motor vehicles has also impacted negatively on operations.
Chairperson of the portfolio committee, Honourable Ronald Muderedzwa said the purpose of the visit was to interact with police and hear from them the challenges they are facing in discharging their duties as per the Police Service Charter.
The committee is on a nationwide visit of ZRP stations to look at its service delivery.
