film reel.jpgA new feature film, I want A Wedding Dress by Nyerai Films Zimbabwe will hit the big screen this Friday.  


I Want a Wedding Dress is a three part story feature film written by playwright, author and film maker Tsitsi Dangarembgwa.


It is a story of young Kundisai Sande who desperately wants to get married but finds herself in a sexual network with disastrous consequences. Her boyfriend Teri deserts her, only to find himself in the same sexual network.


Mahachi, the successful, promiscuous businessman seduces Kundisai and brings infection to the marriage bed. In the midst of their misery, the players in the sexual network come to realise that only love can conquer all.


The movie which starts showing on the big screen this Friday at Rainbow City theatre in Harare features renowned actors who have also taken part in a number of Zimbabwe Television productions. Among them are Charles Kapfupi, Pretty Xaba and Angeline Dimingo.


Before the film was shot into a feature it was selected for the video competition award at the Pan African Film and Television Festival- FESPACO in Ouagadougou last year.


Nyerai Films, a production film company was started in 1992 with the aim of coming up with films that look at issues of domestic violence, abuse of women, and stigmatisation of HIV-positive people.


Other local feature films that have hit the big screen over the years in Zimbabwe include Neria, Tanyaradzwa, Yellow Card and recently Lobola.
