kenyan crash.jpgA Kenyan military helicopter has crashed near the Somali border as Kenyan army forces pursued those responsible for a spate of kidnappings of foreigners in Kenya.

A Somalia military source said that 14 Kenyan soldiers died after the helicopter caught fire this Sunday.

Kenyan officials said the helicopter went down due to technical problems.

Kenya also dispatched columns of its troops into Somalia backed by military aircraft.

Government spokesman, Alfred Mutua said troops were pursuing Somali Al-Shabab fighters across the border.

A Somali military commander said that Kenyan military planes target regions in Southern Somalia, much of which is under the control of Al Shabab fighters.

Last week, nine heavily armed assailants kidnapped two female Spaniards working for doctors without borders and two Kenyan aid workers from the Dadaab refugee camp in Northeast Kenya.
