The Minister of State for Mashonaland West province Cde Webster Shamu has called for the community leadership to keep a database of disadvantaged members in their areas so that their needs are catered for periodically.

Minister Shamu said it is critical to keep track of people in need so as to offer them social support, not only during the Christmas period, but throughout the year.

He said intervention programmes should also be designed to deal with social challenges such as the burden of street children.

He was speaking in Chinhoyi during a handover ceremony of proceeds of the mayor’s cheer fund to the underprivileged.

The proceeds of the Chinhoyi Christmas cheer fund were distributed to Good Shepherd Children’s Home and three old people’s homes in the town.
