A church service has been held for the late national hero Brigadier General Emilio Munemo at his rural home in Chivi.
Speaking at the church service, Zanu PF National Political Commissar Retired Lieutenant General Engelbert Rugeje says the late Brigadier General Munemo was one of the pioneers of the Chitepo School of Ideology, highlighting that his death is a huge loss to the party and the nation.
The chairman for the war veterans association in Masvingo province Cde Tendeukai Chinooneka described the late national hero as a humble and patriotic man who was committed to serving his country.
His sentiments were echoed by the Minister of State for Masvingo Cde Ezra Chadzamira who added that the late national hero indeed deserved the status bestowed on him given his immense contribution during and after the liberation struggle.
Speaking at the same occasion, the late Brigadier General Munemo’s aunt Mrs Miriam Mabhedhla said her nephew was an exemplary figure who was dedicated to his family and job.
Cde Chadzamira led mourners who gathered at Mhunduru village in paying their last respects to the late national hero.
Brigadier General Munemo died on Sunday after being ill for some time.
Meanwhile, after the church service the body was flown back to Harare in preparation for burial at the national shrine tomorrow.
