Junior table tennis players dominated the Zimbabwe Closed Table Tennis championship held at Prince Edward School over the weekend, painting a brighter future for the sport.
Table Tennis President, John Muringani was left satisfied after the Zim Closed Tournament, paying much of the credit to their Development Officer who has managed to instill high competing standards within the juniors.
‘The level of play handling and delivery by the juniors is extremely impressive and we owe it to our Chinese Development Manager who has been working with all our satellite centres in advancing the players professionally,’ said Muringani.
Among those that made a mark in the tournament were 11-year old Vimbai Makuvaza, who competed in three categories winning the Under 12 Girls Category, emerging 2nd in the Under 15 section, but made a terrific come back and reverted to win the Under 18 Girls title. 12-year old Mercy Kazembe scored her own achievement winning the Under 15 and 21 Girls titles.
