tennis2 07.09.10.jpgJunior tennis is alive and well in Zimbabwe and doing well on the local and international scene.

Another tournament for those aged 12 and under will be launched this Friday.

The Super Eight Junior Tennis tournament which has attracted all the top 10 ranked players in each age group begins on Friday after lunchtime and is expected to end on Sunday.

Players are coming from all the country’s provinces to compete for a top ranking.

Tennis vice-president, Regis Bhunu says the tournament is to be used to rank the youngsters.

Tennis Zimbabwe Administrator, Cliff Nhokwara says the Zimbabwean youngsters are doing well at the African Junior Championships in South Africa and the country will be sending another 16 youngsters to the Africa Junior championships to be held in Egypt early next month.

The success of the players at junior levels now needs to be translated onto the senior boys graduating in to professional players.
