shamu_webster.jpgGovernment says the Zimbabwe Media Commission must exercise due diligence in the registration of journalists and ensure that they comply with the country’s laws.

Addressing members of the Zimbabwe Media Commission at a workshop held in Harare, the Minister of Media Information and Publicity ,Cde Webster Shamu said the commission must ensure that journalists operate within the confines of the law adding that the commission must put aside their political differences and work as a team.

 

Cde Shamu castigated the practice of check book journalism which he said is killing the journalism field.

 

The workshop was organized for the media stakeholders and ZMC commissioners to brainstorm and map strategies that should determine the way forward.

 

Among those who attended the workshop were the media commissioners such as former ZBC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Henry Muradzikwa, the commission’s chairman Mr. Godfrey Majonga, Dr Tafataona Mahoso, Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa, Mr. Gift Chimanikire, Mr Justin Mutasa among others.
