jomic.jpgThe Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee (JOMIC) has established district liaison committees which are expected to engage communities to advocate for co-existence regardless of political differences so as to fight violence.

JOMIC established district liaison committees in April this year and is set to take the committees to all provinces in the country in its fight against politically motivated violence.

In an interview with ZBC News on the sidelines of Harare’s seven district liaison committees feedback meeting, JOMIC national coordinator, Mrs. Patience Chiradza said the committees are an extension of the national body and will make it easier for the political parties to solve the issue of violence and advocacy for co-existence in the communities.

The Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee was launched by the inclusive government on 30 January 2009, to serve as a catalyst in creating and promoting an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding between the parties in the inclusive government.
