Jinan Diamond Company is expected to move out of Marange diamond fields to pave way for Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) to resume mining operations in the concession.

The amicable separation between government and Jinan comes after months of tense negotiations between officials from the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and those from the Chinese embassy.

The Minister of Mines and Mining Development Cde Walter Chidhakwa said all is set for the departure of the mining company which will allow ZCDC to move into the concession.

Diamond firms took government to court over the consolidation process which impacted negatively on the production of precious stones while infighting within the consolidated company also played a part in low production.

After successful negotiations with Jinan, government will open more negotiations with other companies though indications are that Mbada Diamonds require the court process to solve the matter.
