jikinya dance.jpgThe 2010 edition of the annual Jikinya Schools Dance Festival ended on a high note with Harare’s Chembira Primary School emerging overall winners walking away with US1 500 dollars.

This year’s edition of the traditional schools dance showcase saw Chembira Primary School getting the nod from the judges to become the 2010 overall winners in a competition which saw 10 schools from all the country’s provinces competing.

Chifamba Primary School from Mashonaland Central came 2nd while Matebeleland South’s Matshinge Primary School came 3rd.Matenda Primary from the Midlands took 4th position.

The festival organizers say the 2010 edition of the Jikinya Dance Festival has seen notable developments, as the groups made splendid performances shown in the beautiful traditional dance displays fused with acrobatics.

Guest of Honor Delta Corporation Board Chairperson, Mr. Kenan Dube, expressed satisfaction with the hosting of the 2010 competitions and challenged society and the corporate world to extend their support to the dance competitions.

 

Each group received a participating fee of US$200 while 1st position winners got US$1 500. Third position winners walked away with US$1 000 with the group that finished 4th taking home US$300 dollars.
