Organisers of the ‘Not in my Name March’ in Pretoria, have apologised on behalf of South African men for not taking action to protect the vulnerable in society.
March organiser Kholofelo Masha said it is time for men to stand in solidarity with abused women and children.
March convener, Siyabulela Jentile who addressed the crowd, encouraged women to join in the action which was organised by civil society groups and political parties.
Marchers voiced their opposition to gender-based violence and child abuse.
Government officials and celebrities such as hip-hop artist, Cassper Nyovest took part at the #notinmyname march.
The march was prompted by the recent spate of violence against women and children.
