irrigation in zim.jpgThe Governor and Resident Minister for Matebeleland South Province, Cde Angeline Masuku, has urged farmers to maximise the use of irrigation facilities and improve from being small scale to large scale farmers.

Cde Masuku was speaking at the hand-over ceremony of Thornville Irrigation Scheme to Mangwe Rural District Council following its rehabilitation by the Small Holder Micro-irrigation Development Support Programme.

She said the rehabilitation of the irrigation scheme will go a long way in ensuring that communities are food self-sufficient and produce marketable surplus.

Speaking at the same occasion, the Small Holder Micro-irrigation Development Support Programme, Regional Programme Officer, Mr Robson Hleruka said they have embarked on a capacity-building programme and have provided inputs to farmers.
