The Iranian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr. Mohammad Pournajaf has lashed out at Western imperialists for attempting to gag the media to portray a bad image about his country ahead of parliamentary elections to be held on the second of March.The Islamic Republic of Iran goes for parliamentary polls in two days time with 290 posts for legislators up for grabs.
While over 48 million voters are reported to be eligible to cast their vote, Mr. Pournajaf confirmed that all is set for the ninth parliamentary election since the country attained independence in 1979.
Mr. Pournajaf however dismissed reports of human rights abuse as the usual cheap politicking by the West of which progressive nations should be on their guard.
Since the Iranian revolution in 1979, the US and her allies have been viewing the Persian country as a threat.
Both Iran and Zimbabwe have been unfairly slapped with sanctions from Western countries.
