Several secondary schools drawn from four provinces took part in a ball games tournament hosted at Chinhoyi High School at the weekend.

The invitational tournament featured soccer, volleyball, netball and handball.

Teams were drawn from the Midlands, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East and Mashonaland Central.

Chinhoyi High scooped the first prize in soccer, while the school’s boys handball team also won first prize.

The netball gong went to Mhangura Secondary School while the volleyball girls first prize was won by Mandedza School from Mashonaland East.

Herman Germainer from Bindura won the volleyball boys trophy.

Chinhoyi High School Head, Dr Savious Mutopa said such tournaments are key in developing skills and nurturing sporting talent among school children.

The Ethical Leaf Tobacco chief executive officer, Mr David Machingaudze said the sponsorship is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility in areas that grow the golden leaf.

Ethical Leaf Tobacco sponsored the soccer tournament, while the other sporting disciplines were partly sponsored by the host school’s interact club.
