The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry says it has received proposals from a consortium of local and South African investors who are keen to launch luxury trains which will ferry tourists from Victoria Falls, Bulawayo to Matopos as the country’s drive to promote domestic tourism gathers momentum.
“Zimbabwe is open for business campaign” and the positive prospects for the local economy continues to entice many international investors with the local tourism industry being one of the sectors which has attracted a lot of investment proposals.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Cde Priscah Mupfumira confirmed that a consortium of local and foreign investors have expressed interest to launch a luxury train services linking Victoria Falls and Matopos.
The government official who had an a brief familiarisation tour of the Rovos train said the country is proud to be associated with the world’s most luxurious train which has over the years brought substantial business to the local tourism industry.
With luxurious and lavish cabin surroundings Rovos train makes a stopover in Victoria Falls affording the tourists an opportunity to explore the resort destination and participate in some of the popular activities including whitewater rafting, rainforest tour, game drive and gorge swings.
