Investors say Zimbabwe is a safe investment destination with numerous opportunities available in various sectors of the economy.
Speaking to the Voice of Zimbabwe on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe Investor Conference, the managing director of Imara Securities, Mr Thadius Kasaira, said there has been a positive response to opportunities afforded to investors by the two previous conferences they have hosted.
“There is a huge appetite for investments in Zimbabwe. However, investors need further clarification on the indigenisation policy. Many of them have no problems with it as it is not unique to Zimbabwe,†said Kasaira.
Dr Samuel Undenge, the Deputy Minister of Economic Planning and Investment Promotion, said the Zimbabwe Investment Authority has received more inquiries and applications to do business in the country attributed to the hosting of investment conferences.
“ZIA is working flat out to expedite the application processes from forty five days to five days for investors intending to set up in the country,†said Dr Undenge.
Gregory Matsake of Capital securities of Botswana said the portrayal of the country in the international media is very different from the situation currently prevailing.
He said there is a lot of potential in Zimbabwe’s industry despite the urgent need for capital injection.
The country is currently hosting fund managers from all over the world under the Imara Securities Zimbabwe Investor Conference that will run from the 19th to the 20th of May. – VoZ
