The First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has implored school children to spend most of their time investing in education as lost time cannot be regained.
This comes as Cde Mnangagwa took her interactive meet the learners programme to Mashonaland West Province’s Moleli High School where she told students to invest in their own future by devoting more time to their education than on early sexual activity.
The First Lady also spoke strongly against hurdles that hinder the full development of the girl child, before urging society to embrace the extended family concept in order to curtail the menace of street kids.
She later took time to hear the concerns of the learners who spoke on a number of issues affecting them.
Masimbaashe Kamureru from Kadoma-based Jairosi Jiri School of the Blind also touched many hearts after telling the First Lady that he and colleagues sleep on the floor as the school does not have beds, to which the First Lady responded by promising to visit the institution as a matter of urgency.
Another student from Chinhoyi High School, Anesu Chatyoka also bared her soul, telling the First Lady how much she and her young sibling are struggling to fend for themselves as their father abandoned the family following the death of their mother.
Amai Mnangagwa distributed some reusable sanitary pads to scores of girls during the interactive tour.
Earlier on, Amai Mnangagwa had toured Nartindale Primary School in Selous where she was shown around some projects at the institution.
