The First Lady Amai Auxilia Mnangagwa says there is need to engage the girl child in dialogue to help curb challenges they face.
The first lady was officiating at a stakeholders meeting on improving social and economic status of girls in Harare today.
She said girls face a lot of pressure from different factors such as HIV and AIDS infections and early marriages among others, which limit their opportunities in life.
The First Lady said it is critical to invest in young girls, adding that engaging them will help to come up with lasting and sustainable solutions.
She said she will have an interface with children from Grade Six to Upper Six levels with the first meeting set to be held in Harare next month.
The meetings will see dialogue between stakeholders and the girl child to allow them to open up and share their experiences.
This year’s programme will be held under the theme: ‘Our Girl, Our Pride, Our Future, Let’s Invest In Her’.
