The hospitality industry will meet next week at a congress in Nyanga to deliberate on issues affecting their operations and unveil the new HAZ logo and website.
Addressing a press conference to mark the congress, the HAZ president- elect, Mr. Tich Hwingiri said with the tourism sector beginning to show signs of recovery, it has become necessary for the industry to meet and discuss fundamental issues affecting operations.
Mr Hwingwiri added that the congress is meant to prepare industry in terms of skills and services delivery.
The congress which will be attended by key decision makers in the hospitality industry will also be graced by the Hospitality Association of South Africa president.
“The issue of refocusing is really encompassing the total refocusing on hospitality.
“In terms of the challenges and the turbulent times we have had in the past few years, a lot of refocus had been overlooked on true African hospitality,†said Hwingwiri.
He however said of great concern to the industry is the current liquidity crunch and deteriorating service characterized by rundown equipment and infrastructure.
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Zimbabwe will be one of the fastest growing tourism economies, hence the need for the industry to make preparations for an increase in tourist arrivals.
The HAZ congress will be held in Nyanga from the 28 to the 31st October, under the theme “Rebranding Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe – Generating Transformational Momentum.â€
