industries.jpgAn industrial production survey which is aimed at assisting Government on economic planning, so as to help find solutions to challenges hindering the recovery of key strategic sectors, is on the cards.



At a time when government is relying on estimated economic and productivity figures, stakeholders have embarked on an industrial survey which seeks to compile accurate data on employment creation, business volumes and revenue inflows for the period 2005 and 2010.


The Zimbabwe National Statistical Agency Assistant Director, Mrs.  Taizivei Mungate confirmed that the arrangement is among other factors expected to assist in formulating policies to revive production.


“This process is in progress and we hope it will definitely assist in gathering relevant data,” said Mungate.


Findings of the survey are expected to be submitted to the public and private sector in line with measures to revive the economy through facilitating price stability, creating new jobs, generating foreign currency and improving investment and savings.


The business community through its main body, the Business Council of Zimbabwe has revealed that it will cooperate with relevant authorities in ensuring that the industrial production survey achieves its main targets.
