gunss.jpgThe Zimbabwe Republic Police are investigating a case of attempted armed robbery which occurred at the Indian Deputy Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Mukesh Kumar’s residence in Harare this Friday morning.

Unidentified armed robbers pounced on the Deputy Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe’s residence in Mt. Pleasant around 9 am and fired at the security guards’ room at Ambassador Kumar’s premises.

No injury has been reported. It is believed the gun shots were targeted at the security guard who was manning the premises.

When the ZBC team arrived at the scene, Ambassador Kumar who had just been called from work was assessing the damage.

Ambassador Kumar expressed concern at the increase in such cases of attempted armed robberies in the area.

Mr. Douglas Nyatsanza who was manning the premises said he was fortunate to escape unhurt following the gun shots.

ZRP spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Oliver Mandipaka said police are in the process of carrying out investigations, adding that the motive behind the attack is not yet known.

He however assured the Indian community in Mt Pleasant that police will do everything to ensure their safety.

The festive season is usually characterised by increased cases of armed robberies.
