25 Zimbabwean professionals have been offered scholarships to study in various PHD programmes in India, a development that is expected to unlock learning opportunities for many post graduates in the country.

Following a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Christ Centre College of Zimbabwe and Christ Centre University in India, a new five-year education programme has been set for post graduates students, with the first beneficiaries expected to leave the country for India this Saturday.

In an interview with ZBC News, the Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Jeitrendra Tripathi said the cooperation between his government and Zimbabwe will go a long way in improving the education sector.

Beneficiaries of the education programme expressed satisfaction with the good relations shown by the Zimbabwean and Indian governments, which they say will go a long way improving learning standards in the country.

India, which is renowned for having one of the best education systems, offers scholarships to 150 local students annually.
