Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Professor Welshman Ncube have saluted the trade and industrial development policies launched this Thursday, saying they are in tandem with the countryâ€™s current economic thrust that government has outlined.
PM Tsvangirai, who was speaking at the launch of the two policies, spoke about his recent travels where he has been attending various economic fora targeting Africa as an investment destination.
He said despite the diverse political messages emanating from different political parties in the country, Europe is interested in investing on the continent and especially in Zimbabwe.
He implored economic stakeholders to ensure that the policies that have been launched will see the light of the day.
Industry and Commerce Minister, Professor Ncube said it is crucial for the country to address issues of resource mobilisation for industrial development, infrastructure development and human capital development as well as sustainability and innovation.
â€œWe should put in place activities and measures that are effectively and efficiently targeted at the industrial development of the country,â€ said Professor Ncube.
The National Trade Policy as well as the Industrial Development Policy 2012 to 2016 which were launched this Thursday, are expected to turn around the fortunes of the Zimbabwean economy through value addition on local products.
