zim squatters.jpgPeople in Epworth are living in constant fear of a health hazard after the mushrooming of illegal squalid structures which have been described as worse than those in the pre-Operation Murambatsvina period.

Just six years after Operation Murambatsvina-Restore Order, illegal structures with no sanitation have again sprouted in Epworth.

Some settlers at Green Valley near Epworth say the situation has become a health time bomb.

It is alleged that a certain woman has declared herself leader of the settlement and is illegally selling stands to desperate home seekers.

The woman identified as Mai Mazvimba refused to respond to the allegations levelled against her.

Despite the poor sanitation and appalling conditions, surprisingly some settlers say they are comfortable and are calling for government to regularise their stay.

Health experts say such settlements can be potential hazards as they can be epicentres of such diseases as cholera.
