A potential time bomb looms at a settlement in Mt Hampden where illegal ZESA connections are taking place.

From a distant, they appear like washing lines and only a closer look will reveal that the wires are electricity cables.

The community appears happy with the access to power and seems unmoved about the dangers posed by such illegal connections.

The legislator for the area, Mr Francis Mukwangwariwa said it requires the involvement of power utility, ZESA, and other relevant stakeholders to solve the problem.

Tempering with electricity infrastructure is a criminal offence and it is unclear if ZESA authorities are aware of the illegal connections.
