The Ministry of Information Communication Technology Postal and Courier Services is mulling plans for the establishment of an ICT park under the special economic zones which will offer foreign investment opportunities in the ICT sector.
This emerged when Information Communication Technology Postal and Courier Services Minister Cde Supa Mandiwanzira met with Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Rungsung Masukui.
Under the ministry’s innovation drive, local young people with new innovations will be able to get assistance from India to help further develop their innovations into global products.
Addressing the media in the capital Minister Mandiwanzira says there will be a specific area designated for an ICT park in Harare where Indian ICT companies will be able to set up factories to manufacture and assembly technological components.
Ambassador Masukui says there is a huge opportunity for close collaboration between Zimbabwe and India in the field of ICTs.
The Ministry ICT, Postal and Courier Services in partnership with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority are spearheading the implementation of e-learning meant to equip all schools throughout the country with ICT skills.
