The 2017 Hwange Agricultural Show has ended with calls for agriculture stakeholders in the district to fully embrace government’s command agricultural programme and to harness modern technologies in boosting national crop output.

The annual agricultural fair continues to attract more exhibitors with government departments’ participation improving each year.

The exhibition, which is one of the country’s oldest agricultural shows, has over the years provided a platform for agricultural stakeholders to showcase their products and share experiences on how to revitalise the domestic agriculture industry.

Guest of honour at the official opening ceremony, Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) General Manager, Engineer Arnold Chivurayise said there is need for farmers to fully embrace the command agriculture programme and to embrace modern technologies in improving efficiencies and boosting annual crop output.

Hwange Show Society Chairperson, Mr Herbert Sansole expressed satisfaction with the quality of products showcased this year and the improved participation by government departments.

Mr Sansole made a passionate plea to the exhibitors to consider erecting permanent structures at the Hwange exhibition park.

Exhibitors hailed this year’s edition of the annual fair as a success as it afforded them a chance to interact with potential partners and enhance their brand visibility.

Among the new exhibitors were the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA), Metrological Services Department, Agriseeds and POSB.

The official opening ceremony also saw the handing over of prizes to the outstanding exhibitors.

This year’s edition of the show was held under the theme: ‘Enhancing New Technologies for Progressive Production.’
