The Harare municipal workers union has blasted the city fathers for failing to pay February salaries on time and for allegedly victimising their leadership.
The members of the Harare municipal workers union staged a peaceful demonstration at town house demanding their February salaries and their arbitration award which is still outstanding.
The leadership of the workers union accused its employer of victimising them and for prioritising the purchase of luxurious vehicles for senior council officials.
The Vice Chairman of the Harare municipal workers union Mr.Â Funny Chifuru alleged that part of their grievances include the unfair and unprocedural dismissal of the unionâ€™s chairman Mr. Comas Bungu.
The workers who demanded an audience with senior council officials were later dispersed by the police as they had brought business standstill at town house.
The workers who converged at the offices were chanting anti-exploitation slogans and waving placards appealing to government to intervene.
Meanwhile town clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi said he could only comment on monday as he was in marathon meetings yesterday.
