Players in the hospitality industry have been called upon to contribute in support of the government’s indigenisation and economic empowerment drive.

Speaking at the official opening of Macheke lodges and conference centre in Macheke, property owner, Mr Charles Mugomedza said indigenisation does not mean acquiring already established businesses only but the introduction of new companies by indigenous Zimbabweans.

Mr Mugomedza, who is also the Director of the Dzimbahwe Hospitality Group, called on players in the hospitality industry to ensure that they work hard in attracting tourists to Zimbabwe.

His sentiments were echoed by the manager of the conference centre, Mr Erengai Gwiza who said apart from offering accommodation to people in transit along the Mutare- Harare highway, the lodges also provide employment to Macheke and surrounding communities.
