amai grace and patient 230710.jpgThe First Lady, Amai Grace Mugabe has called on health institutions to use the scarce resources at government’s disposal in a constructive manner and take good care of their facilities and infrastructure.

 

Amai Mugabe was speaking at Makumbe Mission Hospital where she visited the sick and donated food stuffs and medical equipment.

  
“Resources are very scarce, so those who run health institutions should see to it that those resources are used in a constructive manner,” said Amai Mugabe.

 
The First Lady, who turned 45 on July 23 pledged to do everything in her capacity to assist needy communities.

She visited the children, male and female as well as other wards at the mission with words of sympathy, comfort and encouragement for everyone, a gesture that put smiles and laughter on the faces of patients.

Amai Mugabe, who was accompanied by the Governor and Resident Minister of Mashonaland East Province, Cde Aeneas Chigwedere, presented gifts to the hospital which included mealie-meal, soap, sugar, blankets, twenty pairs of crutches, 20 walkers, feeding tubes, tablets and syringes among other items.

The District Medical Officer-in-Charge at Makumbe Mission, Dr Stephen Karima, who is also a beneficiary of the First Lady’s School Fees Programme thanked Amai Mugabe for the donation but appealed to more assistance for the refurbishment of the hospital.
