Zimbabwe women’s hockey team head coach, Chris Fourie is greatly encouraged by the strides made by his charges at the PSI International Test Series being held at the Hellenic Academy in Harare.

The PSI International Test Series got underway on Friday with the Zimbabwe women’s hockey side facing South Africa in a contest the hosts lost 4-2.

On Saturday, Zimbabwe narrowed the margin of defeat to 1-nil but the local ladies could have won, given the numerous opportunities that came their way.

After the match, Fourie hailed the ‘encouraging’ performance by the team, adding that given the young talent in team, Zimbabwe can push for World Cup qualification.

The PSI International Test Series is set to end on Monday and Zimbabwe men’s side and Namibia are the other participants at an event aimed at exposing Zimbabwean sides to stiff competition.
