hiv_aids.gifThe Midlands Provincial Medical Director, Dr Arnold Chimusoro, says stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV offend the rights of the infected and affected.

 

Speaking at the Midlands Provincial Commemorations of World AIDS Day that were held in Chiundura District, Dr Chimusoro said people should treat one another with respect despite one’s HIV status .

 

He said: “It is everyone’s duty to support the infected and encourage them to openly seek treatment.”

 

Speaking at the same occassion, Medical Director, Dr Matibhiri underscored the need to expand HIV prevention services that target women and youths.

 

The Midlands Province currently has more than 40 000 people on anti-retroviral drugs and levels of stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV remain high.
