tekere edgar.jpgThe local civic society has described the late national hero, Cde Edgar Tekere as a man of unquestionable credentials saying his hero’s status is not subject to debate.

Affirmative Action Group (AAG) President, Mr Supa Mandiwanzira said the conferrment of hero status on Cde Tekere was a befitting gesture to the late cadre who fought fearlessly to dislodge white minority rule in the country.

“I think every Zimbabwean will have no reason to dispute the honour bestowed on this hero. We are preaching indigenisation and empowerment for Zimbabweans as a result of the works by people like Tekere…, he said.

In a sign that Cde Tekere was a man of the people from across the political divide, National Constitutional Assembly Chairman, Professor Lovemore Madhuku a known Zanu-PF and government critic could not dispute the Zanu-PF politburo’s decision to confer the late cadre a national hero status.

“Tekere’s history is clear for all to see… The man is just a true hero…,” he said.tekere burial placard.png
