The Zimbabwe Republic Police has called on churches and the public to work together with the police in order to fight child abuse and domestic violence.

This came up during belated International Women’s Day held by the United Methodist Church in Dzivarasekwa.

Scores of people attended a church service by the United Methodist Church in Zimbabwe held in Dzivarasekwa under the belated International Women’s Day.

According to Pastor Emmanuel Maforo the celebrations are important to the church for family integration.

Speaking at the same occasion, police Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba called on churches to help end child abuse and domestic violence.

Also present at the celebrations was Dzivarasekwa National Assembly member Cde Omega Hungwe and the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan province Cde Miriam Chikukwa who all spoke on how women play a pivotal role in fighting domestic violence.

The celebrations were attended by various civic organisations and different churches.
