dump sites.jpgAn outbreak of waterborne diseases is looming in Harare’s Mufakose suburb following the recurrent bursting of sewage pipes.

The Mufakose community is appealing to the Harare City Council to urgently repair burst sewer pipes and prevent disease outbreaks.

Residents who spoke to ZBC News said they are tired of raw sewage that flows at their door steps on a daily basis without being attended to by the City of Harare for more than three years.

Zanu PF aspiring National Assembly member for Mufakose constituency Dr Dunny Derera said the MDC led council has failed to deliver and if elected he would take action to ease the problems in the area.

“This situation has been going for so many years as the MDC councillors were and are still ignorant to do their job,” he said.

Zanu PF aspiring ward 34 councillor Mufakose constituency Ellen Mutuma said Mufakose is an old suburb that needs new sewer and water pipes.

“This place has elders and child headed families who are being neglected,” she said.

The area has also been going for years without efficient water supplies according to the angry residents.
