The Harare Basketball Association (HBA) will this weekend hold its elective annual general meeting at Richwood Sports Club in the capital where all posts in the executive will be contested.
HBA spokesperson Carlos Munda said the AGM will take place at a time Bulawayo counterparts, Bulawayo Basketball Association, will also be conducting their provincial elections which will be followed by national elections for the Basketball Association of Zimbabwe (BAZ) later in July.
Two candidates are vying for the vacant HBA presidency, Sani Mbofana nominated by City of Harare Hornets and veteran administrator Ngoni Mukukula nominated by Dzivarasekwa Raiders, while the secretary general post has 3 candidates Patrick Marine, Samantha Matsvata and Jacqueline Chinonge.
Referee Brighton Navaya was nominated unopposed for technical president post.
HBA competitions president has no candidates while women and youth president has Ruvimbo Makanunure.
The HBA athletes president is being contested by Tongai Munaku and Benjamin Jani.
The election, according to the HBA constitution Article 19.1.1, will be conducted using a secret ballot but if there is only one candidate, they will be duly elected to that position.
The new executive will have a four year mandate and replaces outgoing secretary general Andrew Chitauro, technical Martin Mukweva, competitions Simba Mugomezi, women and youth Jacqueline Chinouya and athletes Tinashe Dhabha.
