Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Ezra Chadzamira, who recently assumed office, says civil servants in the province need to develop a culture of hard work in order for the provincial economy to thrive and feed into the national gross domestic product (GDP).

Cde Chadzamira said he will be monitoring the work in all government departments and also called on the business sector to go an extra mile in their efforts to turn around the economy.

He reiterated that corrupt activities at a time the nation is working to grow the economy will not be tolerated.

The Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Cde Lovemore Matuke, who was the guest of honor at the welcome ceremony for Minister Chadzamira, said the province has confidence that he will stand up to the task at hand.

“We have come to tell you that you will not fail, we will all support you. We must all change our attitude for the development of the province,” he said.

With the new thrust on devolution, where provinces are set to run their own affairs, Masvingo Province is expected to turn around its fortunes through various projects which include irrigation using water from the Tokwe Mukosi dam, revival of mines like King Mine and the recapitalisation of the Cold Storage Company (CSCS), among other projects.
