Harare residents have raised concern over the quality of water being supplied to them by the local authority, saying it does not meet the smell and sight sense standards.
The city council however maintains that the water is safe for human consumption.
The residents said they fear for their health, leaving them with no option but to resort to alternative sources.
In an interview with the ZBC News, Harare City Council Acting Town Clerk, Mrs Josphine Ncube and the Director for Water, Mr Hosiah chisango said their water is safe for drinking as it meets World Health Organisation (WHO) standards.
They instead condemned borehole water in some areas which they say is contaminated.
Despite efforts to ensure availability and quality water to residents, Harare water’s quality has been questionable, leaving many to opt for borehole water and bottled water.
