The Harare City Council says it will purchase refuse compactors and increase its frequency of refuse collection in an effort to ensure a clean environment.

This comes as the local authority today received 300 pole litter bins from Dairibord Zimbabwe (Pvt) Limited to improve the collection of refuse in the city.

The donation of bins is also aimed at relieving thousands of residents from diseases associated with poor sanitation.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dairiboard Corporate Affairs Manager, Mrs Immelda Shoko said they are committed to ensure Harare City Council achieves the world class status by 2025.

Receiving the pole bins, City of Harare Engineer Isaiah Zvenyika said the 300 pole litter bins will be installed in high pedestrian areas.

She added that the local authority will purchase refuse compactors and increase its frequency of refuse collection in an effort to ensure a clean environment.
