The City of Harare is re-advertising the position of town clerk which fell vacant in 2015 after one of the long serving town clerk Mr Tendai Mahachi was sacked.
Reports allege that City of Harare has already spent more than US$50 000 through engagements of private human capital practitioners in the recruitment and selection process of a town clerk.
Speaking to ZBC News, Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni said they are re-advertising the position of the town clerk since the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing is responsible for the appointment of the town clerk.
“The City Council works with the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing so we are waiting for the final decision from the ministry to appoint the town clerk,” said Mayor Manyenyeni.
The City of Harare has been operating without a substantive town clerk since 2015.
