The Harare Softball League season opened on a high with Bats and Balls dispatching Golden Stars 22-10, while three rookie teams joined the league.

Harare Softball Development Officer, Grant Machiti said softball fans should brace up for a more competitive league with the coming on board of three rookie teams, Belvedere Technical Teachers College’s Black Hawks, Falcons and Green Stars.

“We are building the momentum from the Bulawayo tri-series held a fortnight ago, so every team is raring for the action packed season. The coming on board of three more teams to the league will further increase competition,” he said.

Bats and Balls, Golden Stars, Griffins and Red Hawks are the four teams from last season expected to present the new comers with potential threats.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union games are expected to set alight Bulawayo this Friday.
