The Harare City Council working together with Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS) have embarked on a cholera awareness campaign programme targeting busy shopping centres in high density areas.

Music is one of the important modes of communication.

The City of Harare and SAfAIDS are working together to eliminate cholera through the most effective ways of communication using road shows.

Residents in Budiriro at Current shopping centre benefited from the campaign programme.

Meanwhile, SAfAIDS country programmes Mr Nakai Nengomasha said they are targeting high risk areas to ensure a zero cholera status is achieved.

The use of unsafe wells is another challenge as residents continue using unprotected sources of water.

Under the city by-laws, it is an offence to drill a borehole at a residential property occupying less than 300 square metres.
