Harare residents have raised concern over the quality of water being supplied to them by Harare City Council saying it does not meet the smell and sight sense standards.

The city council however maintains the water is safe for human consumption.

Harare residents say they fear for their health following the quality of water being supplied by City of Harare which they described as smelly and dirty.

Residents said they have tried to engage the City of Harare which keeps on insisting the water is safe for human consumption.

They (residents) said the water does not meet smell and sight sense standards leaving them with no option but to resort to alternative sources.

City of Harare officials said their water is safe for drinking as it meets world health standards.

Instead they condemned borehole water in some areas which they said is contaminated.

Despite efforts to ensure availability of quality water to residents, Harare water’s quality has been questionable leaving many to opt for borehole and bottled water.
